Another horrifying rape incident, a 40-year-old man allegedly raped a 20-year-old girl while traveling in a local train in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
A woman was raped on Wednesday morning in a moving local train in the women's compartment.
The attack took place between Masjid station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station early in the morning around 7.26 am. After the girl, who was traveling alone, started screaming, the man fled the scene.
The girl approached the Railway Protection Force and lodged a complaint. According to the police, the accused was arrested eight hours after the incident. The man, who worked as a daily wager, was booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including charges of rape.
The man was identified after police scanned CCTV cameras at the Masjid station. He was nabbed after a joint team of RPF and Mumbai Police launched a search operation.
Police said the accused is being interrogated and will be produced in court on Thursday.
